Jackie Gonzalez-Southwell is a Registered Psychotherapist and Clinical Hypnotherapist in Toronto who works with people experiencing anxiety, IBS and stress-related symptoms.
Her approach is rooted in understanding the relationship between the mind and body — particularly how our thoughts, emotions and subconscious patterns can influence how we feel and behave.
Before becoming a psychotherapist, Jackie spent more than 15 years in chiropractic practice. That experience gave her a unique perspective on the connection between physical symptoms, the nervous system and emotional wellbeing, and ultimately led her to further study psychotherapy and clinical hypnotherapy.
When the COVID pandemic hit, Jackie saw a significant increase in anxiety among her patients and the effect that prolonged stress could have on both their emotional and physical wellbeing. It encouraged her to return to school and deepen her understanding of how the mind works.
She became particularly interested in clinical hypnotherapy and the role subconscious patterns can play in our thoughts, emotions and behaviours. Rather than simply focusing on what someone consciously wants to change, hypnotherapy offered another way to explore the patterns that may be keeping them stuck.
Jackie trained with Debbie Papadakis, an internationally recognized hypnotherapist who has been featured in O, The Oprah Magazine. She began incorporating these techniques into her work, helping clients address limiting beliefs, reduce anxiety and create positive, lasting change.
Today, Jackie brings her background in physical health together with her training in psychotherapy and clinical hypnotherapy. Her work focuses on helping clients better understand the connection between mind and body, develop greater confidence in themselves and their bodies, and build practical tools they can use long after their sessions have ended.
